How to Optimise Fuel Consumption

We all want to get as many miles as we can out of a tank of petrol. Driving to save fuel is the best way to do this, as the way we drive has a direct bearing upon fuel consumption. When you want to save money on fuel and fill up your car less often, here are some of the things you should think about doing:
• Accelerate gently. Driving at higher speeds can serve to improve fuel consumption, however if you are reaching those high speeds too quickly, you will be wasting fuel. Increase your speed gradually.

• Don’t break too hard. Break slowly and gently whenever you can.

• If you have a stop start button, use it. This will switch off the engine when you take the car out of gear and put on the brakes, saving fuel when you are stuck in traffic.

• Change up a gear when you need to, rather than staying in a lower gear.
